Paint the town RED

Dec 13, 2019

On the 1st of November over 100 Foundation Members and Guests walked up the red carpet into the Gallery for the “Paint the Town Red” function, our fundraiser this year.

The Arabella Quartet utilised the Stuart and Sons Piano to create a wonderful warm welcome and the red lava lamp projection set the scene for a fun evening. Sprout Catering lived up to their reputation providing excellent catering and former MasterChef finalist, Reece Hignell conjured an amazing red themed desert bar that was eventually demolished.

The invitation to dress “Dash, Splash or all out red “ was seen as a challenge by many and the judges were unable to choose just the one best dressed fashionista award so they resorted to inventing a runner up prize.

Scott Bevan was our excellent M.C. on the evening with roving interviews of the fabulously dressed. His interview with Reece Hignell shared Reece’s experience on MasterChef and his passion for deserts.

Our Gallery Director Lauretta Morton welcomed all to the Gallery and the exhibition “Wish you were here; Landscapes from the collection” highlighting that three works on the walls (Ryan Hoffman, Murdering Gully, Glenrock State Conservation Area / Philip Wolfhagen, View to the past / Mandy Martin, Folly) were purchased for the Gallery by the Foundation.

Raffle Prizes were donated by Oxette Jewellery, Experienced Office Furniture, Millpond Vue and Symphonia Wine.

The Foundation junior volunteers, Luc, Ellie, Claire and Sam were excellent at selling tickets and helped the event raise approximately $7,000.

Special thanks to Tulloch wines and Scarborough wines for the generosity and also the generous individuals and organisations supporting the event. Also to Scott Bevan for giving us a wonderful time and all the Membership and Development committee who worked so hard to create the night.

Thank you to the gallery staff members, James, Rochelle and Rebecca who were amazing. Special thanks to the invaluable Lauretta Morton and fantastic Ben Gallagher for all the hard work before and during the event.
